Metro Detroit Scrap Yard

Detroit skyline Metal is used in a wide variety of applications. Why let it corrode away when you can turn that scrap metal into cash? GT Scrap has been a leader in scrap metal recycling and e-recycling in Detroit since 2012. Our family-owned and operated scrap yard guarantees you the most competitive scrap metal prices across the Detroit area. Accurate weighing is done by our state certified scales and your scrap metal is handled by our employees. All we ask is that you bring a valid state ID in order to receive immediate payment for your scrap metal. Once we determine the type and weight of the scrap metal you bring to our scrap yard, you will be issued a receipt with the monetary value of the materials. Getting your money is as simple as scanning the receipt at our on-site ATM. Michigan law does require a waiting period on certain metals.

Scrap Metal Recycling in Metro Detroit

Recycling applies to nearly every institution in Detroit and the metropolitan area. GT Scrap has been recycling scrap metal from schools, businesses and individuals for years. While we do accept the majority of scrap metal that arrives at our scrap yard, it is important that you know what type of scrap metal you are dealing with. The only time we will not scrap an item is if it is stolen or contains refrigerants like CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons).  We are currently recycling two main types – ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals.

Ferrous metals are those containing iron. Ferrous metals are commonly used in cutting tools, skyscrapers, railroad systems, ball bearings, kitchen equipment and other areas. Motor blocks, borings and turnings, sheet and cast iron, alloy steel and carbon steel are just some of the many ferrous metals we accept.

Non-ferrous metals are those that do not contain iron. One way you can test your scrap metal is by holding a magnet to it. Non-ferrous metals have no magnetic properties, so if your scrap metal is not attracted to the magnet then it is non-ferrous. Non-ferrous metals are generally used in construction applications and include copper, brass, aluminum, zinc, nickel and more.

Detroit Electronics and Computer Recycling
